Amphibians

Madagascar is host to the third highest number of endemic frog species in the world. Forty-four species of amphibians are known to exist in the park. The Masoala peninsula and Nosy Mangabe are home to many different species that display a variety of behaviors, forms, and colors. These species are generally well hidden. Even if their songs echo in the forest, it is difficult to see them.

Dyscophus antongili, or the tomato frog, is endemic to the Masoala area.

Mantella laevigata is found on Nosy Mangabe. Like the Dendrobates of Central America, it is poisonous.

Mantidactylus betsileanus is one of the many species of this endemic genus in Madagascar.
