The detached parcel of Andranoanala

What to see ?

The coastal forest is the special treat available in the detached parcel of Andranoanala. Trails are not difficult, and you can easily observe water birds in the park's pond. The Nepenthes masoalensis is the pride of the site. You may even see crocodiles on the river.

This reserve is located on the east coast. If you want to venture south from here, a trail leads you through small fishing villages to the Masoala Cap. The white - and in some places reddish - sands of the gently sloping beach are crossed by mangroves and rivers.

How to go there ?

Departing from Antalaha, you can go either by bicycle or by taxi-brousse; or for more comfort, take a rental car. You can stop at the big village of Ambohitralanana where you can have diner and stay overnight. If you want to stay closer to the park, continue on another 7 kilometers to Ambodirafia and Cap-Est. The whole trip will take 3 to 4 hours.
