Information

Topography : Uneven relief characterized by granite crystalline rocks

Altitude : from 0 m to 1311 m

Végétation : tropical rainforest at a low and middle altitude. The forests at Masoala are undoubtedly among Madagascar's richest in terms of diversity. This peninsula contains the largest remaining low-altitude rainforest (less than 400m) in Madagascar.

Surface Area of the Protected Area : 235,580 ha of land parks, 10,000 ha of marine parks and 520 ha for the Special Reserve of Nosy Mangabe

Average temperature : 23.9 °C

 

Climate : tropical, humid and hot, typical of eastern Madagascar.

Rainfall : an average of 3000 to 4000 mm annually. The Masoala region is the most humid region in Madagascar. September, October and November are the least humid months.
