Marine activities

Kayaking
Kayak Masoala offers sea-kayaking excursions to many locations in the Antongil Bay, and other locations along the east coast of the Masoala peninsula. They also offer snorkeling and diving in the marine parks of Masoala. Trips can be arranged to several small exotic islands off the coast of the peninsula.

For more information, visit www.kayakafrica.com.

    Diving
Masoala National Park has three marine parks covering a total of 10,000 hectares. These parks protect coral reefs, marine flora and fauna, and mangroves. To date, more than 300 fish species have been recorded in the marine parks. Our ongoing research promises to reveal new species.

Equipment and Logistical Concerns

There are no regular commercial boats for the passage from Maroantsetra to Cap Masoala. Several local tour operators can help you to arrange your trip to Masoala’s marine parks. Please wear a life jacket at all times while traveling by sea. The Antongil Bay and the Indian Ocean tend to be quite rough in the winter months of June, July, and August. While most tour operators are very conscientious about safety, please use your best judgment when traveling.

Your tour operator may be able to ptovide snorkeling gear or other items for enjoyin the marine parks. It is the best to plan ahead by asking your operator what gear to bring
