Masoala Regenwald, or Masoala Spaces is a
fascinating initiative that will ensure a long-term partnership between the Zoo
of Zurich and Masoala
National Park. Roughly
one hectare of the Masoala forest was recreated in an enormous greenhouse in Zurich. The exhibit is
filled with many of the plants and animals unique to the Masoala peninsula. Visitors to the zoo will appreciate the experience of
walking through an example of tropical rainforest, and will have the
opportunity to learn about the incredible biological and cultural diversity of Madagascar. The
greenhouse functions as a permanent exposition that will encourage people to
visit Madagascar,
and contribute directly to the protection of the biodiversity of Masoala.
